The Gift of Giving...
June 9, 2016, 12:00 AM

Many folks have questions about tithes and offerings I have been asked several times this week alone, and its okay because for many people its a big topic. This is why God put such a big emphasis on it. So I wanted to make a post about it incase others have questions as well..

Many people think that this is part of God's "Extra Credit" system and its not, we have to understand first off when we talk about tithes and offerings that "scriptural" tithing is NOT and option, its a command. God doesn't just say hey if you would like to... God says,  YOU HAVE ROBBED ME... (Malachi 3:8-11).

Many Christians fall short in this area, because we can do the church activities, the pot lucks, we can attend faithfully, we can pray and teach Sunday school, we can be in the choir and do everything right... and then. Then we "Rob God" sounds harsh huh? Thats what God says "ROB GOD" you see a thief will come unexpectedly... But a Robber, he has guts, a thief is slick and usually at first is undetected, but a robber you know when you are being robbed. Which is exactly why God is says the word "ROB" right here with the word "tithes". We often ROB God every week, and on top of that we ROB ourselves of our own blessings by cheating God. It would be safe to say that a mojority like 99% of folks know what we should give, and still under give God... to put that into a real life situation, then we go out after robbing God and spend twice as much on a Sunday lunch with the family.... (insert "ouch" here- or hop around your livingroom holding your toe while your family glares at you..)

God wants you to be Blessed, He doesn't want you money... He wants your faithfulness and your obedience in Giving. God owns all your money already, I mean after all the streets of Heaven are Gold, give me a break... Pearly Gates... God owns it... He doesn't need yours... accually.. what you have, the Bible says that you say that you own it or "earned it" but we have to remember that it was accually the Lord that gave it to us!... (Deut. 8:17-18) What He does want is to know that you Love Him enough to be honest, and faithful, and that you will be obedient to Him.. What better way to do this than to hit you where it hurts... your pocket. God is no dummy, He knew that that would get you and stop many in there tracks.

You see God knows your heart and wants you to give "willingly" and "cheerfully" God doesn't want you to give out of bitterness, He wants you to give because the choice is yours and you Love Him enough to follow His word... After all from ground zero with Adam and Eve we had a choice and even today we have a choice to follow God or to Not Follow God, God loves us and for that reason He gives us the choice to choose to follow Him. Love is no fun when you are forced, or obligated. Put when there is joy in your heart, butterflies in your belly, and tears of happiness in your heart... that is the good stuff, that there my friend is a choice worth making..

The Bible tells us "first fruits" God wants you to make a sacrifice He doesn't want second best... (remember Cain and Able) God always has to be first, always remember He is a jealous God! What is First fruits, off the Top. So for me and you, BEFORE the government or anyone else gets there hands in it, meaning before taxes. Also, a simple tip, don't try and fool God. That won't work either, remember how I said that God owns everything, we technically He wrote the check, HE knows! (Deut. 8:17-18) Remember the story of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5)  not a good idea to be dishonest to God...

God's whole design with Giving is with you in Mind. Its wrapped in Love, and Blessing we just have to be honest, and strong enough in faith to grab it and obtain it! God wants to bless us... we just cut ourselves short.

Give God a try, Trust HIM that my friend is a challenge....

If you want to give to God through our ministry you can give right from our website. Many people miss giving while they take vacations or when they miss a week of church, did you know that God doesn't take vacations... And we must still have a heart of giving even while we are enjoying vacation or have to be away a week. Think about it.. If you don't pay your taxes for a couple years, and then had the thought that you needed to make things right, do you think that the IRS will just forget about the past debt if you don't say anything about it?. No they would expect you to pay them, to fix your mistake. Not to mention the Bible says that if you owe a debt that you should pay it! (Romans 13:7)

Start today and make a commitment to God to take the challenge and tithe cheerfully as the Lord has commanded us to do, and is leading us to do.

With Blessings-
Pastor Jonathan W. Pannell III

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NKJV)

But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Proverbs 3:9 (NKJV)

Honor the Lord with your possessions,
And with the first fruits of all your increase;

Leviticus 27:30 (NKJV)

30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s. It is holy to the Lord.

Malachi 3:8-11 (NKJV)

Do Not Rob God

Will a man rob God?
Yet you have robbed Me!
But you say,
‘In what way have we robbed You?’
In tithes and offerings.
You are cursed with a curse,
For you have robbed Me,
Even this whole nation.
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.

11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,
So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,
Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,”
Says the Lord of hosts;

Deuteronomy 8:17-18 (NKJV)

17 then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’

18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
